For centuries followers of Jesus have marked the last week of Lent as Holy Week. It's a time to get our hearts and minds prepared spiritually. We just don't run or tip toe into Easter.
To remember the events of the Thursday and Friday before Easter, the church has historically set apart Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Childcare provided for both services.
Maundy (which means "commandment”) Thursday service is at 7 pm. All four gospels and I Corinthians report Jesus giving the Last Supper with the words “Do this in remembrance of me." We will explain what this means and it will be followed by a foot-washing ceremony for us all. If you wish to participate in foot-washing, you will find it helpful to wear shoes that are easily removed. The service concludes with the stripping of the altar. We leave in the dark as a symbol of a world without Christ.
