I hope you will make plans to join us next Wednesday, July 17 at 6:30 for our second summer worship night. Ryan Flanigan from All Saints Dallas will be leading us in music, and we will have time for prayer as well.
We desire for these extended times of musical worship to provide a place for us to sing, rest, pray, and enjoy the presence of God. We see these nights as part of our vision to Behold and Become because one of the ways we "behold" God is in worship, and one of the ways we worship God is through song, through lifting up our voices in praise to him.
Beholding is more than simply seeing, and it's especially more than a casual glance. It is the fullness of our attention. Beholding is truly seeing and coming to know and love what we see. Beholding is a kind of adoring. In Psalm 27 David draws all these themes together when he says,
"One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that I will seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
and to inquire in his temple." (Ps 27:4, ESV)
That's why we gather together to worship because the place of praise, the house of worship, is the place of beholding, and so too the place of becoming, where we are transformed.
So please join us for summer worship. Childcare is provided through age 5.
